BUILT IN CORK SEPTEMBER - Let's Talk Fundraising!

Built in Cork returns Wednesday 26th September from 6pm in Republic Of Work and this month it's all about raising funds for your business!

It's time to get some real insight into fundraising with Republic Of Work CEO, DC Cahalane and special guests; Nicola McClafferty (Investment Director at Draper Esprit), Niamh Bushnell (CEO TechIreland, Commissioner for Startups & Angel investor) and Caitriona Kelleher(Business Analyst, RebelBio / SOSV).

For real investors, the brutal truth is this - if you cannot give a compelling reason why your business matters, and how you can exponentially grow your sales numbers with their investment, you will most likely be turned down by them.

Nicola McClafferty

Nicola has seen fundraising from both sides of the table. Working in VC in London she was inspired to enter into start-up life and founded an e-commerce business, Covetique.com, selling on re-owned designer clothing and accessories. With business booming and the need for scale pressing, they sold out to their strategic investor, Asos.com in 2015.
Nicola has since joined Brian Caulfield in the Irish arm of Draper Esprit, with a particular focus on finding Irish tech start-ups to invest in.

Niamh Bushnell

Niamh co-founded her first company in 1996 (Pan Research. www.panresearch.ie) and is current CEO of TechIreland which maps all product innovation in Ireland. After 16 years in NYC she returned to Dublin as the first Commissioner for Startups with responsibility for spearheading the development of Dublin as a global hub for innovative companies. Niamh is also an Angel Investor at ERANYC.com, CoFounder IDIRUS www.idirus.com and EIR Talent Tech Labs www.talenttechlabs.com

Caitriona Kelleher

Caitriona is a business analyst for RebelBio, SOSVs early-stage startup accelerator for biotechnology & synthetic biology working directly with European General Partner, Bill Liao. A seasoned business analyst, with 15+ years’ experience in Global Financial Markets, Caitriona brings a keen eye for detail and correlations along with a deep subject matter expertise in Financial Risk Management and a passion for accuracy and accountability.

Built In Cork is a monthly event that gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to meet other like minded people in business, industry leaders and innovators. Sharing stories, the good and the bad of business. This is a supportive community ambitious about business in Cork and a great networking opportunity where you can meet some key players on the scene.

Let’s enjoy some nibbles, have a few BrewDog beers and talk business!

What are the key skills that successful business people have, that help them manage these issues and more – that translate into higher sales, greater customer satisfaction, lower staff turnover and stronger resilience.

Neuroscience is showing that these skills can be learned and developed deliberately and collectively are called Emotional Intelligence.

Barbara explains what Emotional Intelligence is, how it works and what the 10 component skills are. She will share the research and case studies which demonstrate very concrete results from what used to be referred to as “soft skills”.

Along with business and leadership coaching, Barbara explains how she trains individuals and teams to build Emotional Intelligence into their everyday activities which ultimately impacts not just their professional lives, but their personal lives as well.
