This event will explore the innovative ideas and technologies that are helping to reduce our environmental impact. Thomas McHugh, Director of Public Affairs, with the Cork Chamber will lead the conversation with our panel of industry innovators.

To open the event, we will invite Julie Gallacher from Nespresso to give us an introduction on how Nespresso is ensuring their global brand are playing their part in a sustainable future.

Julie Gallacher joined Nespresso in 2012 as Head of Marketing. She took over the role as Sustainability Lead & Corporate Communications for Nespresso UK & Ireland in 2017. Her focus is on driving awareness of Nespresso sustainability programme encapsulated in The Positive Cup strategy and in developing recycling options for customers. Passionate about brands and sustainability she recently completed Business Sustainability Management at the University of Cambridge Institute For Sustainability Leadership.

Killian co-founded Solo Energy in 2015, inspired by the rapidly changing energy ecosystem. A technical and commercial specialist with over 10 years’ experience in the sector, Killian is passionate about making renewable energy accessible to everyone. Solo Energy’s business model seeks to unlock the vast potential of renewables through the wide-scale deployment of in-home battery storage and electric vehicles as ‘Virtual Power Plants’ (VPP). With a sharp focus on the digitisation of energy, Killian and the Solo team are using Blockchain and IoT accelerate the rate of change in the energy sector. Killian is currently Vice Chair of Energy Cork, an industry-driven cluster that promotes enterprise and employment within the energy sector. Passionate about sustainability and the environment, Killian loves to bore his friends by talking about climate change, batteries and electric vehicles.
FoodCloud is an Irish social enterprise connecting businesses, farms and manufacturers with good surplus food to charities and community groups that need it, meaning over 1.2 million meals per month are served to people who need it. The FoodCloud vision is a world where no good food goes to waste.
