BUILTINCORK returns on Wednesday 23rd January from 5:30pm in REPUBLIC OF WORK and this month it's all about the success stories of 2018 and inspiring the future stars of 2019!

Join us to hear more from the companies who had us hooked in 2018! Hear all about who they are, how they continue to grow, and their advice for the next generation of homegrown Cork success stories.

About the panel:

Virginia Foley

Virginia Foley from Brand works with small businesses and brands to help them tell a better story. She is passionate about helping brands and businesses to unlock their 'WHY'. She enjoys sharing her knowledge of the digital environment and how it can be leveraged to increase brand awareness and sales.

She has developed and facilitated a range of workshops, webinars and training tools for organisations and clients. She is also a registered tutor with the Digital Marketing Institute and is a mentor with the Start-Up Lab in UCC. She has mentored and supported various Cork start-up businesses and given guidance in the areas of strategic marketing, PR, social media, brand identity and event management.

Virginia holds a Master’s degree in PR with new Media and has specifically researched the area of Brand Storytelling from which she developed an easy-to-use framework – called the Brand Storytelling Wheel – which serves as an operational tool to help clients to tell their brand stories. Recent clients include Tourism Northern Ireland. 

Paul Prendergast

Paul is Co-Founder and CEO of Blink Innovation Ltd.

Paul is a serial entrepreneur and has started a number of companies over the past 20 years. Paul has won a number of awards in Ireland where Blink is based and in 2014 with an earlier company he won the Deloitte Fast 50 for the fastest growing technology company in Ireland.

Blink is the world's first real time resolution flight cancellation insurance product and went live in April 2017. Blink has partnered with Munich RE Digital Partners and was the only Insuretech as part of the first cohort of the FCA's sandbox " safeplace to innovate " programme.

6 months after it was founded Blink was sold to AIM listed CPP group.

Blink are partnering globally with Travel Insurance companies driving innovation. Blink are active with partners in Asia, Europe and North America. Clients include Blue Cross Canada, Manulife Canada, Anadolu Turkey, Generali Hong Kong.

Vicki O'Callaghan

Vicki is the co-founder of BabyBoo, an e-commerce website set up in 2013 which designs, manufactures and sells products for babies and big kids. 

The inspiration behind BabyBoo was to create a brand unlike any other and since its launch, BabyBoo has created unique, fun clothing for kids with special attention to detail. The mums behind the brand always expressed their need for functional and organic clothing that was also kind to baby’s skin, their children all suffered from eczema and it was a struggle to find great quality cotton clothing that also looked great.

Vicki has a digital background having worked for and then Landmark Digital for almost 18 years before venturing out into the world of self-employment. Her experience ranges from sales and digital marketing to social media and most recently her role focused on analytics and project management. BabyBoo just recently launched in the UK and is set to grow as quickly there as it has in Ireland.

Robert Heffernan

Rob was crowned World 50km Race Walking Champion at the 2013 IAAF World Championships in Moscow, becoming Ireland’s third ever gold medallist at World Championship level. He currently holds eight national records on the track and road including his stunning 3.37.54 national 50km record he set on route to placing fourth at the London 2012 Olympics.
