Republic of Work came to life yesterday for the 'Perfecting Your Pitch' workshop, bringing together over 40 attendees from across the country. They arrived ready to learn from renowned pitch coach Catherine Moonan and, crucially, to apply those learnings live on the Republic of Work stage. Our goal? To lend confidence to every participant's ability to communicate with their strongest voice. And did they deliver!

We were incredibly fortunate to host Catherine Moonan, an experienced pitch coach renowned for her work on Dragons' Den Ireland. Catherine is the author of 'The Pitch Coach' & 'Life's a Pitch', truly translating her lifelong experience of communication into actionable wisdom on paper.

She delivered an engaging, 90-minute interactive session dedicated to levelling up your pitch. This was packed with tangible strategies that participants could immediately put into practice. Here are some of the key takeaways that truly hit home:
Audience is Everything: Before you prepare anything else, know your audience. Understanding the value you aim to get from a pitch allows you to target it far more effectively.
Memory Aids for Confidence: Don't strain your memory! Learn 5 core "trigger words," and for each of those, have a powerful "power line" to pitch with unshakeable confidence.
Body Language & Tone Rule: The most important aspects of pitching are your body language and your tone. Remember, no matter what the audience is, they'll often remember how you made them feel, not just what you said or did.
These learnings allowed our audience to become laser-focused on aspects of their pitch that might otherwise fly under the radar.
The Live Pitch Jam: Where practice Took the Stage
This newfound focus was truly apparent during the Live Audience Pitch Jam. Following the workshop, early-stage entrepreneurs took to the Republic of Work stage for a thrilling 90-second verbal pitch – no slides to help them out, just pure vocal impact! The energy was great, and it was fantastic to see such bravery and skill on display.
We were thrilled to welcome startups hailing from fantastic incubator programmes and support networks such as NDRC, IGNITE UCC, Tyndall Research Centre, and New Frontiers, all joining us for this unique workshop experience.
