Republic of Work Hosts Employer Appreciation Event Celebrating the Success of Cork's Youthreach Work Placement Pilot

Republic of Work was delighted to host and partner with the Working Connections Youth Placement Pilot Programme. We welcomed employers and programme participants for a morning of reflection, celebration, and networking for their appreciation event.

Facilitated by Cork Education and Training Board (CETB) and Cork Chamber, the Working Connections programme plays an important role in supporting individuals as they gain valuable workplace experience and build confidence in their career journeys.

Working Connections opens real workplace doors for Youthreach learners across Cork

The pilot programme has demonstrated the positive impact of connecting education and industry, with participating employers providing hands-on opportunities that help young people build confidence, improve employability, and explore potential career paths. It stands as a strong example of how collaboration across the Cork business community can create lasting opportunities for individuals and organisations alike.

One of the highlights of the morning was welcoming our former intern, Emily, back to Republic of Work. Emily took to the stage to share her personal experience of the programme, reflecting on the opportunities, skills, and confidence she gained during her time with us. It was fantastic to see her progress and hear firsthand about the impact the experience has had on her journey.

We also heard from our General Manager, Sarah, who shared Republic of Work's experience of participating in the programme and highlighted the value that internships and work placements bring to both individuals and organisations. Sarah also welcomed attendees to the Hub and spoke about the importance of creating supportive and collaborative workplaces where people can thrive.

The event concluded with a networking session, giving attendees the opportunity to connect, share experiences, and discuss the importance of fostering opportunities within the local business community.

At Republic of Work, we are proud to support initiatives like Working Connections and the Youthreach Work Placement Pilot that help people build skills, gain experience, and create meaningful connections. A huge thank you to Cork Education and Training Board, Cork Chamber, and all of the employers and participants who joined us for such an inspiring morning.

“Community is at the heart of everything we do at Republic of Work. Supporting programmes like this is about creating opportunities, fostering connections, and helping people realise their potential." Frank Brennan, CEO, Republic of Work

Conor Healy, Chief Executive of Cork Chamber of Commerce, said, “Cork Chamber’s vision is to lead a transforming and ambitious Cork city and county, and our purpose is to unite, represent and support our members and our community. Working Connections brings both to life in a very direct way. It connects our members’ expertise and goodwill with young people in our community who have real potential and deserve a genuine chance to fulfil it. An ambitious Cork is one where opportunity isn’t determined by circumstance, and this programme is a concrete step in that direction.

We look forward to continuing to support programmes that strengthen our community and create opportunities for people and businesses across Cork.
